Hotel Zaatari is an artistic initiative raising awareness and directing funds towards the Syrian refugees in the Zaatari refugee camp located on the Jordanian/Syrian border. Proceeds from Hotel Zaatari prints sales go to fund programs on the groun…d in Zaatari camp through our associated organisation Save the Children International, helping to provide the refugees with basic needs. In 2014 the photographic artists Anthony Dawton and Jim McFarlane, and the art house filmmakers Mais Salman and Zaid Baqaeen, created moving and complex artworks including photography and film out of their time spent in the Zaatari camp. The result is a body of work built from the perceptions and point of view of the refugees who have fled and arrived at a place that both their bodies and their minds struggle to cope with. The conditions in the camp, and the refugees state of mind remains the same today. They need to be heard, seen and supported. ALL PROCEEDS GO TO THE CAMP. #36376.

Condition: Very Good. 36 pp., English text, b/w & colour illustrations, publishers' stapled wrappers, very good condition, Exhibition in Qatar from 9 Nov - 3 Dec, 2011, Published in Qatar and the USA in 2011. In 2009, three international photographers with the support of Save the Children entered Gaza. For nearly two… weeks the award winning photographers, Anthony Dawton, Jim McFarlane and Giuseppe Aquili photographed children and their families, victims of the Israeli incursion of 27 December 2008. The images are extraordinary. They tell of what happened and the damage done, physically and psychologically but they also tell of a people, particularly the children, bright, intelligent and full of hope. #36313.
