George Sand (Baroness Aurore de Dudevant, nee Dupin) the child of a misalliance between an aristocrat and an ex-milliner, was the uncrowned queen of Romantics and lover of Frederick Chopin. Her controversial book was not generally well received by the people of Majorca. In stiff yellow wrappers with picture of a spanish lady on front panel. With illustrations and a map. Stamp on ffep "Celda. Frederico Chopin y George Sand". Just a little wear to edges but clean and tight and overall VG+. 8vo. 200pp incl. Excerpt from George Sand's "Story of My Life" and Historical Summary by Robert Graves.

Further annotated with a small "x" in the margin near the paragraph referenced. One of a handful of books to leave his library during his lifetime; his estate sold the rest of his library en bloc. Dust jacket with price of "15/-NET" on front flap and with light browning at spine.
