David Annesley studied painting at St Martin's School of Art in London but soon transferred to the field of sculpture. He had early success - his sculptures were chosen for the Young Contemporaries exhibitions in the early 1960s and he won acclaim at the New Generations show in 1965. He had numerous solo exhibitions since and his works feature in the Tate Collection and those of other major galleries. His work is known for his open-form, metal-welded geometric shapes, often inspired by his national service experiences in the RAF or influenced by the American Color Field painter, Kenneth Nolan.…
