Edition limited to 600 copies this is copy #34; signed by the illustrator Lucy Kempe Welch. From the late 1890s to the mid-1920s she was one of the England's best-known female artists.… Many line drawings, devices and 30 tipped in colour plates. Large format 11.5" x 9.5." Wear to extremities, corners bumped and worn through. Spine pushed with small tears to head and heel and sunned. Evidence of bookplate removal on front endpaper. Light stain to rear panel. Inside paper is thick, very white, ragged edge. Six pages have previous tears unprofessionally repaired with resulting tap marks. Two plates are creased and an additional one is torn. Some water stains at hinges to last 19 pages and free endpaper. Nice survivor. A very good copy. Lucy Kemp Welch (illustrator). Signed By the Illustrator.
