Hardcover. Condition: As New. No Jacket. 1st Edition, Limited Edition. AS NEW may have slight imperfection: SIGNED by AUTHOR. A TWO VOLUME DELUXE MASTERPIECE of JERRY GARCIA BAND and GRATEFUL DEAD PERFORMANCES. This gold embossed two-volume, 2200-page set of books traces all of Jerry's side bands and the Grateful Dead's dates throughout his professional career. Explore over 1300 venues where Garcia rehearsed, recorded, lived, and performed, with over 1120 historic venue photographs illustrating Jerry's amazing legacy. Arranged alphabetically by country, state, venue, and date, buckle up and get ready to take that ride again. Explore the detailed history of each venue, including opening acts, setlists, and a plethora of information providing some insight into what took place at every date on every tour. Take a closer look at each of the historic theaters, auditoriums, arenas, amphitheaters, and clubs. Step inside the studios where Jerry dedicated hours creating his art, music, and films through the years. This unique set of books will place you at the venue on a specific date, where you can review the setlist and stimulate the senses, and read what some of the lucky ones in attendance share about their remarkable experiences. The history of each venue is here, including architects, builders, owners, opening night performances, and other notable appearances, murals, statues, stage prosceniums, backstage areas, pipe organs, secret rooms, hidden tunnels, restorations, and demolitions. Each venue holds a rich bounty of history that will electrify and arouse the senses. Reflect on the moment when the lights went out, the crowd stands up, and Garcis's silhouette appears from the darkness—the audience knew, and with immense enthusiasm anticipated—the magic that was about to unfold. Jerry Garcia's every musical performance was a unique and powerful psychedelic experience in and of itself. Some day, the last person who witnessed Jerry perform live, and really 'got it,' is going to pass… and that deep tribal knowledge of the 'in' moment of sharing space and time with him will be gone. But Garcia's essence lives on in the pages of this bountiful, limited edition, two-volume set of meticulously crafted books. INTRODUCTION EXCERPT: Without question, The Encyclopedia of Jerry Garcia Music Venues is an important addition to the American road excursion, the Beat Generation, and the entire world of the San Francisco sound. No library should be without this guide on its reference shelf, and no one researching any Haight-Ashbury-based band should be without this book. -Hank Harrison (1941-2022), original Warlocks/Grateful Dead manager AUTHOR BIO: Harry G. Angus was born on April 3, 1955 in Newark, NJ, and raised on the Jersey Shore in what at that time was a small rural community known as Laurelton. At age 17, on July 18, 1972, his older sister, Cindi, and her boyfriend Carl, took him to his first live Jerry Garcia experience at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City, New Jersey. From that point forward, Harry became passionate about the music of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead. In the years following, there were many more live events he would attend, all over the northeast and beyond. Harry was also interested in history and particularly fascinated with vintage architecture. The diverse locations where many of the concerts took place furthered Harry's interests. These two distinct passions have always run parallel to one another and continue today to be a big part of Harry's life. 9″ x 12″ books with a gold embossed hardcover and gold gilded pages showcases the cover art of Zeb Love, the well-known poster artist. . The amount of information here… is astounding. This is a very Limited Edition. It may never be reprinted. With no Dead and Company scheduled on the horizon this book will ease your soul." —JACK STRAW, WICHITA, KANSAS. Dave Reed and Kelly Badeau (illustrator). Signed by Author(s).…
