Most of the artists in the collection were completely unknown and literally starving at the time. Platen sensed that something new and beautiful and enduring was being made before her eyes. Some of the artists in the collection include Georg Baselitz, Joseph Beuys, Christo, Hanne Darboven, Walter de Maria (one of very few photographs of the extremely reclusive artist), Edward Kienholz, Claes Oldenburg, Sigmar Polke, Robert Rauschenberg, Gerhard Richter, James Rosenquist, and Andy Warhol, among so many others. "The art scene fascinated me: The avant-garde of '68, my contemporaries, had not yet achieved fame, many of them were still practically unknown, and I was able to point my lens at them.
