After a close friend died, the Canadian poet picked up his pen and crafted one of the most enduring symbols for those who have died in war: "In Flanders Fields." His poem exploded after its publication in Punch, leading to the adoption of the poppy as the flower of remembrance. Posthumously gathered into a collection in 1919, this copy is a fourth printing featuring a contemporary owner inscription and newspaper clipping of "In Flanders Fields" and R. W.
