Perforations down left edge from office binding. Very well preserved. Book is near fine in like jacket. A gun-running thriller set in South East Asia which was favourably reviewed by Ian Fleming for The Sunday Times. Dated 20th November 1959, Grove's report for Elstree provides a summary of the story, list of principal characters, synopsis and reader's comments. His verdict was generally positive, but with reservations concerning characterisation and stereotypes: 'A well-written, neatly-constructed thriller - clearly likely a movie subject. But there are faults.' Despite the novel winning the 1959 Gold Dagger Award, it was never developed into a film. A scarce film industry critique from one of Britain's best-known and well-loved film studios.…
