Red cloth covers clean and bright, though sp.a tad faded, circular gilt motif centre fr.,bottom outer corner bumped, others slightly so. Jekyll was a lawyer, M.P. and Attorney General to the Prince of Wales according to College of Arms biog. Byron, Wellington and George IV mentioned in numerous places.

He purchased Beeleigh Abbey during the Second World War, an impressive twelfth century monastery in Essex. Beeleigh housed his library, one of the largest private libraries in England. In a full morocco signed binding, with gilt detailing. Externally, lovely. Joint heads and tails starting slightly, with boards firmly held. Bookplates to front pastedown and front free endpaper.
