Front board came off when I opened the book. o/w very solid. CRACK ON FRONT BOARD. 544 PAGES. MARBELED PAGE EDGES. Thick 8vo. Profuse illustrations on wood; 71 to Vol.I, 41 to Vol II, including tissueguarded frontispieces, illustrated title pages, full page plates, intext illustrations and vignettes. Very good clean tight sound square, no bookplates, discreet ownership inscription to verso of front free endpapers, light sporadic foxing limited to prelims and final leaf. Beautifully bound in gilt ruled, lettered and illustrated half Morocco leather over coloured marbled boards bumped to foreedges vol I and II and gently rubbed to tails, great shelf presence with 5 gilt dentelled raised bands to spines, top edges very bright gilt.
