Based on the 1934-1954 comic strip by pulp magazine author Don Moore and illustrator Alex Raymond. A Universal serial film in twelve chapters, wherein, two safaris search the African jungle for a missing heriess, one, lead by Jungle Jim, which wants to inform her of her inheritance and escort her back to civilization, and the other wants her dead for her fortune. 7.5 x 8.75 inches. Near Fine.

The third serial of "Flash Gordon," presented in twelve chapters, preceded by "Flash Gordon" (1936) and "Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars" (1938). A strange and deadly plague, the Purple Death, believed to be the work of the evil Emperor Ming, is ravaging the Earth, and Flash Gordon is the only hope to stop it. 8 x 9.75 inches. Very Good plus, with a faint horizontal crease and a .5 inch closed tear to the middle left, with bruising on the verso.

Middleton. Followed by two sequels, also in serial form, "Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars" (1938) and "Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe" (1940). Remade in 1980 as a superhero space opera film, directed by Mike Hodges and starring Sam J. Jones and Melony Anderson. Shot on location in Bronson Canyon, California. 8 x 10 inches, mounted onto a 8.25 x 10.25 inch black art board. Near Fine, with even toning. National Film Registry.
