Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Not a book but a 10-inch, 33-1/3 rpm Long Playing (mono, monaural) vinyl record, Mercer Records LP 1004. Very-good-plus vinyl (save there's a bump in the track "Ol' Man River," as made), in a very-good cardboard sleeve with some chipping, which jacket is also partially split to both top and bottom. "Here, for the first time on a long playing record," notes jazz authority Leonard Feather, "a group of great instrumentalists from Duke Ellington's orchestra supplies the beautiful setting for a series of vocal interpretations by Al Hibbler. Hibbler has been a major drawing card with Ellington ever since he joined the band eight years ago. Johnny Hodges, Harry Carney, Red Rodney, Billy Strayhorn, Max Roach and Wendel Marshall provide the accompaniment on 'Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen.'" Strayhoprn takes over as pianist and arranger on Hoagy Carmichael's "Stardust" and "Stormy Weather." Also includes "Ol' Man River," Gershwin's "Summertime," and Loesser's "On a Slow Boat to China." Catalogs $250; here reduced from $95.
