Laid in is a compliments slip from the Directors of Clyde Shipping Company Limited and a copy letter to the Clyde Shipping Company acknowledging receipt of the book. The Clyde Shipping Company (1815-1956) developed from a small Clyde?based tug and lighterage operator into one of Britain's longest?running coastal steamship firms, with a trajectory shaped by industrial expansion, Irish Sea trade, and two world wars. Its evolution can be traced across three major phases: early steam navigation (1815-1956), Kidston?era expansion (1856-1893), and the Cuthbert?led modern period (1893-1956).
