On 1 October 1925 in the city of Düsseldorf he married Erna Schlossmann (1895-1998), a pediatrician and daughter of Arthur Schlossmann (1867- 1932) who too was a pediatrician and head of the Children's Hospital at the Academy of Medicine in Düsseldorf.
