S4 Baden-Württemberg war von 1991 bis 1998 das gemeinsam vom Süddeutschen Rundfunk (SDR) in Stuttgart und Südwestfunk (SWF) in Baden-Baden veranstaltete vierte Hörfunkprogramm für das Bundesland Baden-Württemberg. Sein Nachfolger ist SWR4 Baden-Württemberg, das vierte Hörfunkprogramm des Südwestrundfunks. Hervorgegangen ist S4 Baden-Württemberg aus dem Ende der 80er-Jahre gestarteten SDR 4 des Süddeutschen Rundfunks, das zunächst als Mantelprogramm für die heute noch bestehenden Regionalfenster des SWR diente. Bereits 1979 nahm das Regionalprogramm aus Mannheim (Kurpfalz-Radio) seinen Sendebetrieb auf. Es folgten 1981 Radio Stuttgart und 1984 das Schwabenradio aus Ulm. Diese Programme sendeten nur zu bestimmten Tageszeiten ausschließlich in ihrer jeweiligen Region. Durch § 13 des Landesmediengesetzes Baden-Württemberg vom 16. Dezember 1985 sollten neue öffentlich-rechtliche Regionalprogramme ausgeschlossen werden, wogegen sich der SDR und der SWF mittels Verfassungsbeschwerde an das Bundesverfassungsgericht wandten und durch das 5. Rundfunk-Urteil vom 24. März 1987 Recht bekamen. Aufgrund dieser positiven Entscheidung gründete der Süddeutsche Rundfunk noch im selben Jahr das Frankenradio in Heilbronn sowie 1988 das Badenradio in Karlsruhe. Nach diesem Gerichtsurteil begann schließlich auch der Südwestfunk Im Jahr 1988 mit dem Aufbau von Regionalprogrammen im südlichen Landesteil Baden-Württembergs. Als erstes ging Radio Breisgau in Freiburg auf Sendung. Im Jahr 1991 wurde Radio Stuttgart in Württemberg-Radio umbenannt und nun im Wechsel mit dem SWF-Studio Tübingen produziert.
