Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Large antique historical atlas with 92 engraved, colored maps. Includes two-page Texas map and New Military Map Showing Forts, Military Posts & all the Military Divisions. Includes tissue-protected, steel engraved Title Page depicting Native Americans on cliff. On blank verso of engraving is penciled notation: "Purchased this Atlas June 1st 1861." Lacking other Title Page (presumably due to Civil War and its publication in Virginia); otherwise in Excellent condition, with all maps present. Original gilt stamped, embossed brown cloth and leather spine/corners. "Johnson and Browning" imprinted on lower spine. Marbled endpapers. Maps and contents clean and unmarked; no library markings. Rare and wonderful historical and research resource! 18.5" x 15".
