Parues pour la première fois en 1906 dans l'hebdomadaire Le Petit Journal, les aventures de la petite parisienne ont connu un succès immédiat et ont été publiées en album en 1911. Charles Geniaux (1870-1931) was a French novelist, and one of the first 20th century writers that wrote in the so-called orientalist manner, setting their story in the Orient. Le choc des races, first published in 1912, is set in Tunisia. At the time, Tunisia was still a French colony. Georges Jordic-Pignon (1876-1915), often called simply Jordic, was a French illustratior, the pupil of artists Benjamin-Constant and Jean-Paul Laurens. He is known as a children's book illustrator.
