El feminisno de Flora Tristán es de raíz ilustrada, presupone por tanto unas reivindicaciones y un proyecto político que solo pueden articularse a partir de la idea…de que todos los seres humanos nacen libres, iguales y con los mismos derechos, pero toma cuerpo en el periodo inmediatamente posterior a la Revolución Francesa, a una derrota amarga, y seguramente inesperada, del feminismo. Tras ella, las mujeres no podían subir a la tribuna pero sí al cadalso. Manteniendo la continuidad con el pensamiento de autoras anteriores (Mary Wollstonecraft, entre otras), Tristán imprime a su feminismo un giro de clase que en el futuro daría lugar al feminismo marxista. Al tiempo, se emparentaba con las corrientes críticas a las que se ha denominado "socialismo utópico", pero teorizando ya la necesidad de una Unión Obrera, de un partido obrero. Parece claro que muchos de sus planteamientos (feministas y socialistas) carecen todavía de respuesta y que el matrimonio entre marxismo y feminismo puede haber tenido una convivencia poco afortunada, pero las ideas de Tristán siguen siendo necesarias para entender y transformar el mundo en el que vivimos y pensamos. Han sido sus tesis feministas las que han garantizado a Flora Tristán un puesto en la historia del pensamiento. Von zarter Na…tur war sie zum scharf ausgeprägten Ausdruck begabter als zum beseelten Spiel. Sie war der Gegenpol zur anderen überragenden Schauspielerin der Zeit - Eleonora Duse. Zuerst spielte sie in kleinen Rollen an der Comédie Française und versuchte sich erfolglos als Sängerin in Burlesk-Komödien. 1869 erregte sie im Odéon erstmals Aufsehen. Nach einer Zwangspause durch den Deutsch-Französischen Krieg war sie wieder an der Comédie, die sie jedoch bald verließ, um fortan Gastspiele in aller Welt zu geben. 1881 spielte sie erstmals die Rolle ihres Lebens, die "Kameliendame" von Alexandre Dumas. 1893 übernahm sie das Théatre de la Renaissance in Paris, das sie in Théatre Sarah Bernhardt umtaufte.
