Fue el creador de la Biblioteca americana de Bartolomé Mitre, en dicha biblioteca se encuentran, entre otros, una serie muy completa de manuscritos que pertenecieron al General San Martín, Josefa Balcarce y San Martín de Gutiérrez de Estrada, a quien va dedicado este ejemplar y a la vez la destinataria de la carta, que fue la que le cedió al autor dicha documentación. Primera edición, rara, que mereció muchas otras a lo largo del tiempo. Algún esporádico punto de óxido, muy buen ejemplar. Procedencia: En la primera hoja de respecto del Tomo I., aparece la dedicatoria, autógrafa y firmada por el autor a la nieta del General San Martín fechada en Buenos Aires el 16 de junio de 1889.
