The photos on the dust jacket cover have rubbing and light fading. There is an inscription by Lt. Col. James Vaughter on the front pastedown page dated 3-13-89. "Born in Byers, Texas May 22, 1918, passed away in Sacramento, January 9, 2010 at the age of 91 years. Survived by his son, Michael D. Vaughter of Reno, NV; grandchildren, Amy and Chad and great grandson, Ethan. He was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Betz Christensen Vaughter. Mr. Vaughter was the son of Dr. Hiram and Ada Vaughter. He was of a family of three brothers and two sisters. He entered the Air Force as an Aviation Cadet in 1940 during which time he was in combat in the European Theater Eighth Air Force and was a prisoner of war from 1943 to 1945.
