Add to basket299 S. Signiertes Exemplar mit Widmung: "To Helen Robinson with best wishes - sincerely, Leon G. Turrou". *-*-*-*-*-*- SHIPPING COSTS to other EU-COUNTRIES occasionally may be different than indicated (according to the weight). Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. FIRST EDITION. A report of the 1938 Nazi espionage investigation in the United States, written by the FBI agent who led the case and told to David G. Wittels. Turrou recounts the discovery and investigation of a German spy ring operating in America, including its attempts to obtain military information and its plans for further espionage. Turrou was an FBI agent and Nazi hunter who, in February 1938, was tasked by FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover with leading the investigation into the Rumrich case, a foreign espionage affair. Turrou's decision to resign from the FBI on June 20, 1938, and to publicize details of the investigation in a series of newspaper articles, sparked a 27-year vendetta by Hoover. However, Turrou's collaboration with the New York Post and Warner Brothers Pictures played a significant role in alerting Americans to the Nazi threat, shifting public opinion against neutrality, and increasing funding for counter-espionage agencies prior to World War II. BOOK: Publisher's grey cloth with multi-coloured streaks boards, red and black title label to spine; some dust-staining to top edge, off-setting to endpapers, else internally fine. DUST JACKET: Unclipped jacket priced $2.00 to inner flap, very light shelf wear to extremities, a little darkened to spine.…
