Includes a preface, biographical and critical by Samuel Johnson, and remarks by J Aikin. Two brown leather bound volumes with detached boards, but otherwise showing surprisingly little wear. Gilt titles within frames on each book although one of the frames on volume I is missing. For some reason there is no publisher's name or publication date, but no obviously missing title page; books printed by T Davison and published presumably by Kearsley circa 1800. Quite clean interiors with 334 and 372 gilt edged pages, and blue paper lining inside covers and owner's book plate Milton Waldham. Both books in good condition with the only detraction the detached boards.
