Synopsis:

Within the space of only 14 years, the Bauhaus set the course of modern design. This is the account of the main pedagogical concepts behind the work of this art school. Analytical essays illuminate the various approaches of staff members in the Bauhaus, which included Gropius, Mies van der Rohe, Itten, Moholy-Nagy, Kandinsky and Klee. Additional chapters of this reference work investigate the pre-history of the Bauhaus and its predecessors in matters of art training, outling the the development of the institution from 1919 to 1933.
