First Edition, issued late 1912 for the 1913 operating year. An exceptionally rare, historically important, and completely unused corporate pocket memorandum ledger and almanac issued by the historic Sun Fire Office, universally recognized as the oldest insurance company in the world. The booklet features an incredibly bold, striking, and vibrant Art Nouveau decorative design block to the upper card cover, beautifully centered around the insurance house's iconic corporate emblem: a stylized, blazing golden sun displaying a highly detailed human facial expression. The upper margin reads: "Founded 1710 / SUN FIRE OFFICE / CHIEF OFFICE THREADNEEDLE ST LONDON E.C." The lower margin is custom-printed with localized branch data reading: "Birmingham Branch, 10 Bennetts Hill". The interior layout opens with a detailed advertisement for the Sun Fire Office to the inner upper cover and facing Page 1, opening immediately into 24 completely blank, unruled, and identical premium paper leaves designed for personal ledger entries. The rear inner pastedown houses a pristine, complete calendar for the full year of 1913 alongside an extensive table of contemporary Edwardian postal information.Condition Report:A remarkable, pristine survivor in solid Very Good plus condition. The original card covers retain an exceptionally bright, clean, and vibrant color profile, exhibiting only expected, light uniform cosmetic rubbing to the exterior extremities and spine fold. Unmarked by any contemporary ownership names or inscriptions. An archive-grade, pristine artifact of British corporate history.2 text/advertising leaves, followed by 24 identical blank memorandum pages, concluding with the calendar pastedown matrix.Inner back cover houses the complete 12-month calendar grid for 1913, flanked cleanly by the official domestic and international postal rates.…

Store description

I have collected books most of my life. My collection has reduced now to about 4,000 items. I list a few more as time goes by! It is difficult sometimes to allow old friends to move on. Of course, they can find fresh enthusiasm from their new owners. No matter how many items you handle, there's always excitement and interest. It is vital however that my items are described accurately and I would hope to offer good value. If you see something that you feel is 'too high' for your pocket, don't hesitate to make me an offer. I try to keep the postage costs down, and within the United Kingdom this will be free. Posting abroad will be competitive, and often I will not ask for additional amounts if this is viable. But weight of items is the deciding factor. I will add images to my descriptions, and I hope that the combination will help you to decide. Regardless, always double check or take time to contact me for further information, or merely just to clarify a point. Ask for more images. If I can reduce anything I will do so. If you purchase more than one item, then offering a decent discount is likely. If items are not as described or you have a valid problem with any item, then I am happy to make a full or partial refund. This will be in line with all Statutory guidelines e.g returning the book in the condition it was delivered, and do let me know as quickly as possible. If damage has occurred then try to provide images. Ring me on 01352-810931…
