About this Item
Wrappers. Spine slightly worn. Inscribed by Geoffrey Tickell to the poet and critic Derek Stanford, "For Derek from Geoffrey 31/7/55"; with Stanford's manuscript note on p.10, defining the "phoebes" in the poem "The Need of Being Versed in Country Things". Geoffrey Tickell, brother of the novelist Jerrard Tickell, was one of the group of Muriel Spark's "bachelors" that she socialized with after her relationship wound down with Stanford; he and Stanford collaborated on Conjugal Life, a book of Balzac translations published in 1957.
