About the Author

IGNACIO ABELLA (Vitoria, 1960) es naturalista y escritor. Abandona tempranamente la formaci�n acad�mica para dedicarse a la vivencia y al estudio de los �rboles, el bosque y la naturaleza en general; tanto desde el punto de vista cient�fico (bot�nica, ecolog�a…) como del de la tradici�n popular. Los hayedos de Urbasa, en su infancia, y los bosques de Somiedo, en su juventud, han sido sus primeras facultades. Participa habitualmente en actividades de investigaci�n, conservaci�n y divulgaci�n: ponencias, cursos, art�culos en medios diversos, programas de radio, exposiciones, etc. Experimenta e investiga en los campos de la ecolog�a del bosque, la gesti�n tradicional de los paisajes y en temas de etnograf�a. La defensa del patrimonio natural y cultural, y la educaci�n en estos valores, forman parte inseparable de este trabajo.
