This book is like five books in one! Covering development and script breakdown to budgeting, preproduction to production, and post to sales and distribution, Producer to Producer gives you all the information you need in an easy-to-understand, chronological order.
Make no mistake, this is the DEFINITIVE guide for low-budget, independent film producing. Filled with practical advice from over 20 years of production experience by producer Maureen A. Ryan, the co-producer of the Academy AwardTM-winning film, MAN ON WIRE.
This comprehensive guide to low-budget film producing for emerging and professional producers. It is designed to take to production meetings with every aspect of the film-producing process outlined in detail, including checklists to keep you on track, from 12 weeks before shooting to the first day of principal photography and through postproduction. Don't produce your film without it!
"This does what no book on production has done before - you actually can go out and make a movie after you read it. Maureen Ryan is one of the best independent producers working today and this book will show you why. Like her, it's thorough, thoughtful, and highly enjoyable. Whether you are a novice or a professional, there is much to learn here."---Ben Odell, Producer, Padre Nuestro, Partner, Panamax Films
"Finally, a book that lays out, practically, how to get through a shoot. No one ever tells you this stuff --- you're expected to learn it the hard way... until now. Written by one of the best producers I've ever worked with."---Paul Cotter, Writer/director: BOMBER; Estes Avenue
"This is THE book for producers. Nowhere else will you find the wisdom, insight, and tried and-true, nuts-and-bolts know-how found here."---Sheila Curran Dennin, Writer/director: RED FLAG; Becoming Medusa
