Published in Philadelphia by Thomas, Cowperthwait & Co. in 1848, this first edition includes numerous engraved illustrations depicting battles, portraits, and national scenes. The text recounts his service in the Seven Years? War and the Revolution, followed by the founding of the federal government and his presidency. Very Good condition; full moroccan blue leather binding with gilt decoration; corners lightly rubbed; marbled endpapers intact; text block tight and clean; pages show mild toning and occasional staining.
