The Olympic Games, which will be held in Holland in 2028, constitute a mega-event on an almost unimaginable scale. Sport, the economy, city marketing, urban development and even regional and national development are fundamentally affected. Organizing the event can strengthen the identity of a country and put major spatial planning problems on the agenda--or even solve them. Based on studies from the Netherlands' foremost centers of urban studies, the Academy of Architecture Rotterdam and the Berlage Institute, as well as the imaginative power of the world-famous Rotterdam based architecture firm MVRDV, NL28 Olympic Fire offers a parade of spectacular visions for how the Olympic Games can transform Holland. The book focuses on the country's spatial agenda by linking themes such as Climate Change, Water Management and Energy Production in surprising new ways with solutions for stadiums, infrastructure and accommodation for athletes.
