A comprehensive, eye-opening first monograph on French-Swiss architect Philippe Meier and his firm MAA, covering 90 projects (almost all built) since 1988. Meier's work combines an impeccable modernist aesthetic with unusual sensitivity to nature, creating a fusion of natural and man-made landscape. This stylishly designed softcover book contains 200 photos of exteriors and interiors (mostly color), plus drawings, floorplans, schematics and elevations. Every project is also listed in a useful key at the back, with a small image and information like location, client and date. An indication of the quality of Meier's work is that the book's introduction is by Italian designer Albert Alessi, appreciating Meier's integration of engineering with architecture, creating things that are beautiful and also work.Since the beginning of the 1980s, the architecture scene in French-speaking Switzerland has undergone a process of drastic rejuvenation while constantly extending its range of influence. The range of projects includes buildings for living, health, culture and education as well as engineering projects. maa can look back on a long series of publications and exhibitions which document the consistency of their work. This book focuses on their latest series of projects and provides a direct insight into the considerations of the maa work process. …
