A fair copy of this important work on land tenure in contemporary full leather binding. First published in the late 1400's, this edition is the first to have parallel texts in French and English. The binding is sound but there is delamination down the spine and considerable wear to the top and bottom and the joints. There is wear and leather loss to corners. Internally there are no pastedown endpapers, the leather being visible over the card boards. There is a signature to the front board - W C Ellis - and a further signature to the free endpaper - John Dakoque 23 April 1721. There are stubs of 2 blanks before the title. Contents: title with some loss at the top and nibbling to sides; table 19 pp; advertisement 1p; text pp 1-436; table of contents 2pp; Epilogue 1p; Finis; 3 blank leaves. There are old sealing wax blobs to the interior of the rear board. Text with decorative headpieces. Contents clean with toning to paper. The first few pages have some nibbling to side edges. There is mispagination: 360-371-372. - with no loss of text. The stitching is showing at p 110.
