This is a stunning and evocative collection of photographs that reveal the dichotomy of life in the world's most powerful city. 'Out of sight, out of mind' is an adage that provokes most photographers, yet only the finest can focus our attention on what we see every day but too often ignore. "In the Shadow of Power" brings together a collection of images by internationally renowned photographer Kike Arnal that capture the remarkable contrasts of life in the world's most powerful city - Washington, D.C. His photos, standing alone or connecting together without words, enter into the consciousness, underscoring how the inhumanity of the few toward the many cast a shadow across the entire human condition.

Kike Arnal was producer on a number of BBC and National Geographic documentary films before turning his hand to documentary photography in the late 1990s. Since then, he has covered stories across the globe and had his work featured in numerous publications, including The New York Times and Life magazine.
