"The Island of Yaki Yim Bamboo" transports readers to a magical land where two inquisitive siblings, Noah and Ida, from St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, imagine themselves visiting this island of enchanted powers through the storytelling of their Aunt Za. This enthralling children's book, set against the breathtaking backdrop of this intriguing land, transports readers to a world where kids can ride dolphins, soar on clouds, and transform into animals in a paradise that is brilliantly depicted in 24 exquisite illustrations.
However, things do not look as they seem because the island's enigmatic ruler, Bobotwee, forbids all children. Noah, Ida, and their friends defy this rule and set out on an adventure full of fantastical creatures and insightful lessons.
This charming story teaches as much as it entertains, and they learn bravery, the joys of growing up, and the inevitable changes that come with it, alongside their adventures.

About the Author
Millicent F. Arrindell, a first-time author of Caribbean descent, was captivated by Fred Rohan-Vargas's play "The Island of Yaki Yim Bamboo." Their shared love for Caribbean culture led them to collaborate on the book based on Rohan-Vargas's play with the same title. Ms. Arrindell graduated from The City College of New York with a major in Graphic Arts Education. She worked for many years in both the healthcare and retail businesses. Now retired, she travels and explores new horizons with friends and family. "People will have as much enjoyment reading this book as the authors had writing it," she states.
