Item description from seller

George Grenville (1712 - 1865) was an English diarist whose association with the royal family as well as other influential people in England provides an important look into the people and places of his time. As Clerk of the the Privy Countil he had an insider's look into English political life. This two volume set was bound in 3/4 leather with marbled boards by Sangorski and Sutcliff. Unfortunately, the bindings are detriorated and the front cover of volume 1 is nearly detached . The leather spine label is partly missing in volume 1. Top edges are gilt. Volume 1: 568 p.; Volume 2: 602 p. Indexed. Aside from the binding issues, there are no internal or external markings, and the contents are clean and bright. Previous owner bookplate in each volume. Rebacking is recommended to restore this set.; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall.
