About the Author: Dr. Hedwig Herold-Schmidt studierte Mittlere und Neuere Geschichte, Völkerkunde und Politikwissenschaften in Köln und München. Seit 2005 ist sie als Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an der Professur für Kulturgeschichte des Seminars für Volkskunde/Kulturgeschichte der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena tätig. Forschungsschwerpunkte sind das 19. und 20. Jh., Kultur- und Sozialgeschichte von Gesundheit und Krankheit, Adels- und Pressegeschichte, Festkulturen und Religiosität in der Moderne.
