Sierra Quinn was pumped about two things when she awoke on a late spring Sunday morning-her husband was due home that evening after another two weeks on the road and she was to start a new job tomorrow. She and Jerry were now empty-nesters. Sierra had taken some computer classes at Big Moon Community college and managed to land a job in the IT department of Black Industries, a local manufacturing company. She was ready for a new challenge, to get out of the house and meet some new people. She was nervous but excited.Jerry was a national sales rep for an auto parts supplier and his job kept him on the road more and more in the current economic recession. Their sex life was almost non-existent lately. Sierra was looking forward to some horizontal recreation that evening.A good day went to hell when Jerry called that morning and said he wanted a divorce. And, yes, it was another woman.Cole Black, the president of Black Industries, was fighting to save his company-from the recession, the Chinese, his banker, and his business partner. His ex-wife ran away with his former chief engineer some years ago. Sierra vows to build a new life as she starts working at BI. As Cole fights to save his company he develops a strong attraction to his new hire. When he pushes her for a commitment she declines, saying she needs to be independent for a while. Sierra Quinn wakes on a bright spring Sunday ready for a new beginning-her husband is due home after two long weeks on the road, and she starts a new job in the IT department at Black Industries the next morning. With the kids grown and gone, she's eager to reinvent herself, meet new people, and reclaim a spark that's been missing from her marriage.
Instead, her world collapses with a single phone call. Jerry wants a divorce-and he's leaving her for a younger woman.
Reeling but determined, Sierra throws herself into her new role at Black Industries. There she meets Cole Black, the company's driven president, a man fighting to save his business from recession, foreign competition, and a partner he no longer trusts. Burned by his own past betrayal, Cole isn't looking for complications-until Sierra walks into his life.
As Sierra rebuilds her confidence and Cole battles to keep his company alive, an undeniable attraction grows between them. but when Cole pushes for more, Sierra hesitates. After losing everything, she's vowed to stand on her own two feet before giving her heart to anyone again.
Two people scarred by the past. One chance at something real. Can Sierra trust herself-and Cole- enough to risk a second beginning?
