This second edition expands on the introduction to the concept of symmetries in electromagnetism and explicit symmetry breaking. It addresses some of the recent developments in the field of radiation from magneto-electric materials and ferroelectric materials and correlate them to the nature of symmetries in physical systems.
Dr. Dhiraj Sinha is a faculty member at Plaksha University, Mohali, India. He received his PhD from the University of Cambridge and was the CTO of Smantenna Ltd, where he worked on thin film antennas aimed at their integration at the chip level. He got his postdoctoral training at the Singapore University of Technology and Design, Singapore and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, USA.
Gehan A. J. Amaratunga has held the 1966 Chair and Professorship in Engineering at the University of Cambridge since 1998. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering UK, National Academy of Sciences of Sri Lanka, Royal Society of Arts UK and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (formerly the IEE). He has published over 800 archived academic papers and is an inventor on 56 granted patents.
