Add to basketThis book describes the basic contents of eco-environmental informatics (EEI) systematically. It consists of ten chapters: development history of the groundworks of knowledge, data and models for the EEI emergence since the early 1850s, the core principles of EEI including methods for high-accuracy surface modelling and the fundamental theorem for eco-environmental surface modelling, spatial interpolations, scale-transformations, data fusion, and model-data assimilation, as well as their applications connecting ecology, environmental science, and geographical science.
It is used as a textbook for advanced undergraduate and graduate students in the field of EEI. It also serves as a reference book for researchers involved in geographical information science, ecological informatics, environmental informatics, computer-aided design, and planetary surface modelling.
Professor Tianxiang Yue works at Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The research group led by him has innovatively developed the high accuracy and speed method (HASM) for surface modelling and HASM quantum machine learning algorithms to give solutions to error, multi-resolution, and slow-computational-speed problems which long troubled surface modelling. HASM has been successfully applied to simulating surfaces of elevation, soil properties, nature (including biodiversity and ecosystems), ecosystem services (including food provision and carbon stocks), and drivers of changes (including carbon dioxide concentrations, climate change, land use/cover change, and population distribution) as well as COVID-19 transmission dynamics. In all these applications, HASM produced more accurate results than other methods.
Professor Na Zhao is mainly engaged in the research of high-accuracy surface modelling of eco-environmental factors, especially in the spatial interpolation, downscaling, and multisource data fusion of climate elements, proposing a series of innovative methods. She has developed a high-precision mixed interpolation method for climate elements based on spatial stationarity and non-stationarity, effectively addressing the challenges brought by spatial heterogeneity. She has also established a variable-coefficient downscaling method that considers spatial scale effects, solving the core key issues affecting downscaling effects and providing new high-precision methodological support for meeting the needs of local scales and fine simulation under future scenarios. From the perspective of image restoration, she has originated a high-dimensional data fusion method, pioneering new approaches for data fusion and providing core foundational guarantees for accurately revealing the mechanisms of geographical environmental changes under the interaction of multiple factors.
Professor Wenjiao Shi has developed a high-accuracy surface modelling (HASM) for regional agricultural parameters, such as soil attributes, which integrates macro-geological information and micro-sampling data to achieve accurate predictions that align more closely with the spatial distribution of parameters. This innovative approach provides a novel methodology for accurately characterizing regional agricultural parameters in terms of their spatial representation.
Professor Zemeng Fan has mainly focused on research fields of ecological modelling and system simulation, including surface modelling of land cover changes and scenarios, trend and scenario of biodiversity change, ecosystem service trade-off/collaborative quantification, and their response to climate change. He has improved the Holdridge life zone model and established a surface modelling method for simulating the types and patterns of terrestrial ecosystem change in multi-scale, innovatively developed a surface modelling method of land cover change driven by the coupling of natural and human factors, a spatiotemporal recognition model of ecotone, and a surface modelling biodiversity method.

Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to Brook Bookstore, Tribiano, Milano, Italy, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
