A mixed set (first editions published 1868-70): part i, eighth edition, Ellis and White, 1880, rebacked with new label and new endpapers, half-title and title-page neatly repaired; part ii, ninth edition, Ellis & White, 1884, corners of upper cover slightly bumped, lettering-label darkened, endpapers somewhat spotted; part iii, seventh edition, Reeves & Turner, 1886, rebacked with new label; part iv, sixth edition, Ellis & White, 1880, covers slightly marked, lettering-label darkened and chipped, some spotting of endpapers. From the library of Lord David Cecil with, in parts i and iii, the 1986 (Humphrey Stone) Red Lion House book-labels; and in parts i and iii the earlier stamps of Newcastle High School Library, with, loosely inserted in iii, its "Schola Castellensis" bookplate.
