Item description from seller

Hardback octavo, dustjacket, very good condition (in very good dustjacket), black & white photos (frontispiece & three foldouts), minor foxing (top edge, rear pastedown, reverse side jacket), jacket scuffed (edgewear, flap price-clipped). 359 pp. 'Dives and Pauper' is an encyclopaedic prose commentary on the Biblical Ten Commandments, cast as a dialogue between a rich layman (Dives) and his instructor, a poor mendicant friar (Pauper). It was composed about 1405 - 1410 by an unknown author, and addresses theological debates of the turbulent period of English church history with unusual directness and complexity. This copy is the first volume of a 3-volume set, containing the first half of the text of this classic document (that is, Volume 1, Part 1, not Part 2). (No 275 in the Early English Text Society series.).
