Paperback. Condition: Good. Disbound, pages only. A presentation copy to Thomas Dwight from Reverend Joseph S. Buckminster. Thomas Dwight (1758-1819) was a United States representative from Massachusetts, and Buckminster (1784-1812), likely related to Dwight's mother, was the minister of the Brattle Street Church, and collector of the foundational library of the Boston Athenaeum. This sermon is an 1809 printing of William Paley's (1743-1803) second published work, on 2 Peter iii, 15, 16, preached at the invitation of Edmund Law, Bishop of Carlisle. Pages are curled and folded slightly at the bottom, and because they are somewhat fragile, there is some minor tearing at the edges. Pages are browned and lightly foxed. There are a few pencil notations in addition to the presentation note, in ink. William Paley (1743-1805) was an English Anglican clergyman, Christian apologist, philosopher, and utilitarian. Pamphlet/disbound, good condition. 11 pages, octavo. Seller Inventory # 1691370
