Charles F. Hohm is Professor of Sociology and Associate Dean of the Division of Undergraduate Studies at San Diego State University. He received his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Southern California, is the founding president of the California Sociological Association, and is currently vice president of the Pacific Sociological Association. His most recent books include Population: Opposing Viewpoints (2000), coedited with Shoon Lio and Lori Jones, and Global Social Problems (1996), with James A. Glynn and Elbert W. Stewart. He has published numerous articles on demography, environmental sociology, housing, and child maltreatment in journals such as Demography, Sociological Perspectives, Sociology and Social Research, Social Science Journal, Journal of Interpersonal Violence, Housing and Society, International Journal of Sociology of the Family, and Growth and Change. He is the past editor of Sociological Perspectives and the 1998 winner of the Pacific Sociological Association's Distinguished Contributions to Teaching Award. His current research interests are in social demography and the adjustment of refugees.
