Entries for 195+ items from the Portland archives at Welbeck: mostly letters, but also drafts, fragments, etc. Dates are, except for a few medieval items, mostly from the later 17th and the 18th century. Roughly half of the entries include transcriptions of the text. Some entries are for a catalogue of the library of Titchfield Abbey (c1400 - not full text), a letter from James II to the Prince of Orange, a draft of a speech for Queen Anne, a letter from Jonathan Swift to the Earl of Oxford, various letters from George III. to the Duke of Portland, etc. Appended are transcriptions of 5 longer documents and of a set of 24 letters from Matthew Prior, dated 1712-1714.
