Item description from seller

This is an early printing of the Caldecott Honor book for 1950. The list of 14 books on the rear flap is roughly in reverse order of publication and starts with Yerle the Turtle. The two "Beginning Reader" books includes The Cat in the Hat Comes Back. They were both published in 1958, suggesting a 1958 or 1959 printing for this book. Size: Between 11"-13" - Quatro (4to). 48 pages. Item Type: Book. Text block is tight and bright. There are single small light red marks on the first, second, fourth and sixth pages (growing smaller and lighter) and light brown marks at the bottom margin of pages eight and nine. Hardbound in glossy paper over boards. The corners are sharp, but are worn at the tips (the bottom corners are worn to the board). The spine is worn at the head and foot with a 1/4 inch tear at the head and 1/2 inch tear at the foot, both on the rear fold. The unclipped (295/295) dust jacket has a large (2" by 1 1/4") chip at the head of the spine, an oblong 1 inch hole at the edge of the front panel next to the spine and is missing 1 1/4 inches at the foot of the spine. There is a large 4 inch closed tear at the right side of the front panel (not affecting any text) and wear along the edges. The dust jacket is now protected in a clear archival Brodart sleeve. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing. Illustrator: Theodor Seuss Geisel. Quantity Available: 1.
