Activiti, an open source process engine, uses Business Process Model and Notation to provide a standard way to capture business processes and to convert those models into executable code. It’s lightweight and integrates seamlessly with standard application software such as Spring. Also included is a set of design and management tools that even helps developers who have never used a process engine get productive quickly.
Activiti in Action is a comprehensive tutorial designed to introduce developers to the world of business process modeling using Activiti. This book presents a solid introduction to BPMN 2.0 and quickly moves to real-world examples that show how to implement BPMN processes with Activiti. Key topics are explored, including workflow, ESB usage, process monitoring, event handling, business rule engines, and document management integration.
