Soft Cover. Condition: New. First Edition. A retrospective of the career and works of one of the region's most enduring and popular satirical cartoonists, Chou Cheong Hong. Cartoons reproduced span a forty year career beginning in the 1960s, Topics range from the radical policies of Maoist China to the money politics of the '90s, and the daily trials and tribulations of a working man, husband and father in modern times. Humour is one of the key indicators of the universality of the human condition, transcending geography, culture and race, as Chou's works simply and charmingly demonstrate. Captions in trilingual English, Chinese and Portuguese; cartoon dialogue in Chinese (although many have no dialogue), but such is the nature of the cartoonist's art that no translation is necessary to capture the essence of his message. Limited to 500 copies only. 160 pp., 156 cartoons, or cartoon strips, 23 of which are in colour, biographical outline of the artist's career. Highly recommended. Size: 28 x 23 cm.
