Synopsis
The images in "Han Lei: In Between," arranged in scrapbook fashion, tell a story of a world is populated with soldiers carrying banners, costumed figures in small-town parades and distant children playing in parks. These moody black-and-white snapshots from the 1980s and 90s are interspersed with more recent, theatrical tableaux in color.

About the Author
Maya Kovskaya, PhD, is a professional art critic, writer, scholar, curator, and translator with more than a decade of experience in the Chinese art world, and three in India. She has contributed to more than 30 international exhibitions as curator and/or critic. Her art criticism has appears regularly in international art catalogues, academic volumes, and major magazines and she is the author of "China Under Construction: Contemporary Art from the People's Republic." Han Lei is an award-winning photographer whose work has been exhibited internationally.
