This manual is written as an aid for practising civil engineers and engineering geologists to familiarize them with spreadsheet application tools to aid the analysis and design process. Spreadsheets have been used extensively in business applications to examine strategies, and have largely been ignored in the general engineering profession. Each chapter contains a summary of the relevant theory, which provides an introduction to the subject. The examples given have been arranged in an increasing degree of difficulty in terms of the spreadsheet design, not in an increasing order of difficulty of geotechnical content.
