Synopsis
En la Valencia de 1900 se gesta la imagen de la ciudad floral, colorista, barroca. De este modo se crea un arquetipo urbano que compagina bien con el tópico de la paz social traida por el régimen de la Restauración. Y, sin emabrgo, la ciudad presuntamente agraria es, en realidad, obrera y comercial; la paz social se rompe una y otra vez -en la ciudad y más allá- en manos del conflicto suscitado por impuestos injustos para la mayoría o embarcaciones de soldados con destino a un horizonte africano y desolador; la lucha política será entre el republicanismo emergente y los antídotos que incluyen los partidos dinásticos para la autodefensa...
