Synopsis

The volume gathers two essays by Rosi Braidotti that deal with a central concept of their nomadic philosophy: sustainability. The ethics designed here is based on a subject theory characterized in particular by the works Gilles Deleuzes and Félix Guattaris. Thus, Braidotti elaborates in the first essay the political significance of a subject conception that understands the subject as neither autonomous nor self-sufficient, but as relational and striving to affirm one's own life forces - even in seemingly negative situations such as pain, addiction or suicide. In the second, more strongly literary science essay, this relationality is illustrated by the relationship between Virginia Woolf and Vita Sackville-West, which manifested itself in aspects of professional collaboration, creative practice, intellectual friendship, and lesbian love.
